Who we are
TARE is an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fee-estimation tool, operated from Canada and offered to producers, including in the United States. Your data is handled under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable US state privacy law.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and organisation name.
- Data you enter: the packaging data (SKUs, materials, weights, volumes) and reduction plans you create or upload.
- Operational logs: request metadata such as timestamps, IP address and request identifiers, used to run and secure the service.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, so we do not collect a browsing profile.
How we use it
Only to provide and operate the service: to compute your fee estimates, keep your account secure, and diagnose problems. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not use your packaging data to train models or to build datasets we sell.
Who else can see it
Your data is isolated to your organisation and is not visible to other customers. We use service providers to host the application and its database, and to send account email such as password resets; they process data on our instructions only. We may disclose data where the law requires it.
Where it lives and how it is protected
Data is stored with our hosting provider. Passwords are hashed with Argon2 and are never stored in plain text. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to operating the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and the data you enter for as long as your account is open, and delete it on request as described below. Operational logs are kept only as long as they are useful for running and securing the service.
Cookies
We use a single first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. There are no third-party advertising or tracking cookies, so there is nothing to consent to beyond staying signed in.
Your choices and your rights
You can access and correct your data in the product. You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data, by contacting us. We will verify the request comes from you, and we aim to act promptly. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
